Course Description

There's a difference between a quote and an estimate. A quote is the price of transporting products from point A to point B. An estimate is the cost of all the services associated with moving cargo from your door to your customer's door. This course will teach you how to accurately estimate the weight and dimensions of your shipments, which is critical in logistics as it helps keep you out of trouble at several stages along the supply chain - especially when dealing with expedited shipments, such as air transport.

Key Concepts

  • Understand the origin and destination time zones.
  • Calculate the container load factor for your shipment.
  • Determine the true weight of your parcels under special consideration to their composition and make use of weight estimation software.
  • Estimate the size and volume of your cargo by using the International Standards Organization (ISO) standards for oversize and heavy cargoes.
  • Learn ways to get more lanes.
